One of our most favorite bubbles is to make an annual summer trip to the mountains of New Mexico in the Taos Ski Valley area. We are able to escape the sweltering heat of Central Texas and enjoy the dry cool climate of the Ski Valley mountains. In addition to hiking, relaxing and toasting a few bubbles, the highlight of the trip is to put out the hummingbird feeder at the cabin and see how many birds we can attract. Some years, during droughts when natural wild flowers are scarce, the hummingbirds attack our feeder in great numbers. Hummingbirds in Taos. Even in years when rainfall has been plentiful and there are many wildflower options, we still are able to attract many of species that spend the summer season in the mountains. One of the most tenacious species is the Rufus (rust color) hummingbird. This is a male Rufus introducing himself to us on a recent visit. Life is short….enjoy every bubble!
